📝 LIB: Memory Palace, Finding a Partner & Pre-Game Motivation

Improving your life through tactics + frameworks

Sup friends 👋🏼,

I met some of my Twitter ‘heroes’ last week - folks who I’ve admired from afar for a while, and we all ended up at the same meetup. They were super nice (and much, much younger than me).

Being around smart, young people who have huge ambitions always seems to light a fire for me.

Without further ado, let’s get to it!

On Mental Frameworks:

1/ Memory Palace

I came across this concept after reading Moonwalking with Einstein - the TLDR: A “photographic memory” can be taught. Our brains are wired to remember images better than words.

The steps are:

  1. Choose a familiar setting: A home, school, or any cherished place.

  2. Map a route: Navigate through this location in your mind. Every distinct point becomes a “memory anchor.”

  3. Craft vivid imagery: Change data into memorable, sometimes exaggerated images. The quirkier, the better!

  4. Position your imaginations: As you go through your mental yellow brick road, deposit these lively images in each of the key rooms of your ‘palace’.

2/ The 3-3-3 Method

Came across a neat method to structure your days - it’s called 'The 3-3-3 Method’. As follows:

  • Spend 3 hours on your most important thing.

  • Complete 3 shorter tasks you've been avoiding.

  • Work on 3 maintenance activities to keep life in order.

The idea is that if you execute and check off these three major boxes, you've had a good day. It removes the pressure of "never enough" thinking where we’re stressed out from not making enough progress (which is an inevitable feeling most people will resonate with).

This is helpful because:

  • If you’re spending 3 focused hours on your most important thing, you’re guaranteed to generate meaningful daily progress.

  • Completing 3 shorter tasks you've been avoiding keeps todo list from getting too large.

  • Working on 3 maintenance activities allows you to make progress on other focus areas of life, like health, relationships, housekeeping, and more.

Try it yourself - write down your 3-3-3 plan for the following day:

  • What is the most important thing you'll dedicate 3 hours to?

  • What are the 3 small tasks you'll complete?

  • What are the 3 maintenance activities you'll work on?

As you go through the day, cross each off the list. If you do it, you'll get into bed with the satisfied feeling of a day well spent.

On Life:

1/ On finding purpose and choosing your partner

I’m a big believer in serendipity - this dude sounds like a gem. Love his advice about choosing a life partner:

“If you have a big vision and want a big life, you need someone who knocks your socks off. It’s gotta feel like winning the lottery. This person is your #1 advice giver. Your lifelong backup. Your companion for thousands of meals, events, problems. You need someone better than you in a lot of ways. Whose mind and heart amaze you. I wake up every day like, ‘How on earth did I land her?’ She says the same thing. That’s when you know.”

2/ Coach Prime’s pregame motivation

“When we started this journey, we told you it was gonna be tough. We ain’t got tomorrow, we’ve got now. We ain’t got next, we’ve got now. We ain’t coming no more, we here.

Enough said.

On Strategy:

These case studies by Growth Design are epic - would highly recommend reviewing this one on TikTok’s addictive feed - the site is designed so beautifully and there are some great tips on what TikTok can do to improve retention, while reducing the amount of time people are spending (sounds counterintuitive, but you’ll have to see for yourself).

2/ Leo Messi - El Fenómeno

What a game-changer Messi has been for Major League Soccer - some of these stats are 🤯

3/ Future stock kids

Enjoyed this thread on setting your kids up for financial success by instilling some key habits, forgetting the investing part, I think there are some good life lessons in this related to patience, decision-making, and long-term thinking.

To get a laugh:

1/ How it feels to listen to podcasts:

😂😂😂

That’s all for today - till next time 🙂
