📝 Courage Beats Genius

5 quick gems of the week

Sup friends 👋🏼,

What a month! It’s been otherworldly from both a work and a personal perspective.

From a work perspective, we announced a partnership with Sony to launch their own blockchain using our tech stack - this is an important moment for crypto, given the history of Sony’s entertainment products and what this could mean from a web3 perspective.

From a personal perspective, I’ve been away from London for most of this month, having travelled abroad for work, as well as a few weddings - I love the opportunity to travel to attend big milestones. I understand the privilege I have, and it makes me more grateful for being able to experience new places with the people I love & root for in life.

In any case, I’m excited to get back to writing this newsletter and I plan on being consistent for the coming weeks, before being out of action again for a surgery coming up…

More on that another time, let’s get to it 🙂

💎

/1 Wise Thoughts

“Better to remain silent and be thought of as a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.”

I remember when I first came across the above quote and didn’t think much of it.

“If you don’t state your opinion, how do people know what you’re thinking?!”

While this is partially true, you don’t want to be the person who speaks just to fill the silence.

Sure, there’s value in real-time brainstorming, but more people should invest in deeper thinking. Take the time to form a thoughtful point of view, write it down, share it with others for feedback, and refine it from there.

If your perspective is still evolving, i’ve found that asking questions is the best approach!

/2 The ‘Reitoff’ Principle

I recently stumbled upon the “Reitoff” principle, and it hit home.

If you feel like you’re procrastinating a lot, it could be your mind’s way of telling you to take a break. Instead of forcing yourself to push through (something I’ve done many times), it might actually be more productive to give yourself permission to ‘write off’ the day.

This intentional downtime can recharge and reset you, so you’re ready to hit the next day with even more energy and focus.

/3 Biohacking for Gene Defects

A fascinating thread that covers gut health, gene defects, and more.

After 25+ years of research, Gary Brecka has pinpointed 5 key genes that accelerate aging and illness. These genes impact:

  • Fat Metabolism

  • Stress Response

  • Vitamin Absorption

  • Gene Regulation & DNA Repair

  • Immune Response & Digestion

Brecka also claims that Magnetism, Oxygen, and Light are the true “fountain of youth.” Here are four key takeaways:

  • Fermented foods for better digestion, immunity, and nutrient absorption

  • Peptides (still wrapping my head around these, but they’re our body’s cellular signals)

  • Testosterone

  • Consistent, deep sleep

The thread is packed with videos and resources for those curious to dive deeper into these topics!

/4 Courage > Genius

While Peter Thiel’s eccentricity seems to grow with time, there’s no denying his impact.

From co-founding PayPal with Elon Musk to funding Silicon Valley’s biggest winners, even toppling Gawker, Thiel has always championed bold moves. His approach? Backing innovators, boldly (and even encouraging some of them to drop out of college via the Thiel Fellowship).

In this clip, Thiel emphasises experimenting and taking action, especially when you’re exploring uncharted territory.

P.S. I’ve always loved his classic interview question: “Tell me something that’s true, that no one else believes.”

/5 Don’t be the victim

Charlie Munger always puts it perfectly: We are the architects of our own lives.

Every day, we have the power to shape our path. The choice is simple—be in Owner Mode. Take control of your future, and don’t let circumstances define you.

Let this quick clip serve as a reminder: your destiny is in your hands.
